Meet Ms. Lucy — Moosica (Music)

Shalom! My name is Lucy and I moved to Gainesville, FL in July from a small town in Kentucky. Music has always been an important part of my life; my earliest memories involve singing religious songs.

I also took piano lessons and played the clarinet and saxophone in middle and high school. I continue to sing in a choir, and I will be taking part in a musical this fall! Music can be such a wonderful part of childhood, and I am honored to take part in that. I’m so excited to hear all our friend’s beautiful voices this year!

I work to incorporate new instruments (learning the ukulele right now) and movement into our daily lessons with things like a parachute and shakers.

Meet Ms. Coral — Ohmanut (Art)

My name is Coral Smith, & I have been an artist since a young age and have created art with multiple disciplines throughout my life. I have studied music, dance, theater arts, drawing, painting, photography, mixed media collage, graphic design, set design, figure drawing, fiber arts and sewing.

I received my degree from SCAD in 2012 and began working primarily in live events producing for music and theater. In 2020, I was hired as a co-director for a creative youth nonprofit that provides safe and encouraging creative spaces for gender-marginalized kids ages 10-17.

After the initial surge of the pandemic, I began to incorporate care work to be at the front of my career, which led me deeper into childcare and now early childhood education.
